Mrs. Geraldine White Nelson, age 73, a resident of Old Hickory, passed away on Saturday, October 31, at her residence.
Funeral services for Mrs. Nelson will be conducted Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. at the Hermitage Hills Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Smyser officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. at Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 3:00 – 5:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the Hermitage Hills Baptist Church. Williams Funeral Home in Columbia is in charge of the arrangements.
The Cullman, AL, native was the daughter of the late Abby Reece White and Hazel Louise Yeager White. She was the wife of the late James "Jim" Nelson. Geraldine was a seamstress for many years at Anderson Brothers & Foster Department Store and Sunshine Cleaners in Columbia. Her favorite pastimes included sewing, creating greeting cards and working word search puzzles. Geraldine loved playing cards with her friends. She was a member of the Hermitage Hills Baptist Church and the Murfreesboro Road Civitan Club.
Survivors include her children: James Daniel (Becky) Nelson of Coppell, TX, Connie (David) Thomas of Old Hickory and Teresa Diane Nelson of Columbia; one brother: Jerry (Ann Dickson) White of Brentwood; grandchildren: Patrick Nelson of Coppell, TX, Nina (Matt) Boshers of Mt. Pleasant, Clarissa (Zach) Childress of Old Hickory, Paige Thomas of Old Hickory and Lorne Thomas of Old Hickory; sister-in-law: Anna (Ed) VanMaren of Columbia; brother-in-law: Robert L. Nelson of Lansing, MI. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews in the Columbia area.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Murfreesboro Road Civitan Club.
